10.03.2012 03:20Calling all Reggae Artists and Reggae LoversFrom its very founding Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music (CPR) has shown a determination to push the envelope and this year will be no different. At its founding, ingrates within the Rasta community murmured that the organization aimed to "get rich off of Rasta" by staging a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the coronation of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Mennen. While the event produced no financial riches, it was a resounding success and set in motion a preservation movement that continues to grow.
Following last summer's successful launch of CPRLive, CPR's internet based broadcast platform that offers a mix of music and talk that proudly declares 'It Ain't Just Music, It's Life' CPR is now poised to launch CPRLive Presents, a monthly showcase of performances by emerging as well as veteran artists. This presentation event will be staged at Brooklyn's eSavoy Lounge at 2192 Flatbush Avenue in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn and will enable CPR to pursue two of
the three planks in its mission statement: (i) to raise the bar in the creation, development, promotion and presentation of reggae music; and (ii) to elevate the profile of its purveyors. CPRLive will be produced by TSO Productions LLC.
In hosting this showcase, CPRLive challenges artists to step up their game, offering an opportunity for deserving emerging and veteran artists to showcase their wares while providing an upscale setting for reggae lovers to enjoy authentic roots reggae in New York. This event is a must for roots reggae connoisseurs seeking to enjoy the music in a mature atmosphere. Special thanks and respect are due to the management of eSavoy Lounge who are demonstrating their commitment to raising the bar in the presentation of live reggae music by supporting and facilitating this project.
The first staging of CPRLive Presents takes place on Friday March 16 and features the dynamic Anthem Band. Look for their customary high standard of performance as they do covers and originals, sharing the stage with special guests. Anthem Band's past performances at CPR events include their able backing of Everton Blender, Big Youth, Ernie Smith, and others at CPR's Reggae Culture Salute over the years and their recent performance at CPR's Kwanzaa gathering.
CPRLive Presents will continue on the second Friday of each month with the kind of first class presentations that CPR and TSO Productions have become known for, and is poised to raise the bar in New York's reggae scene and help establish eSavoy as Brooklyn's premiere live reggae entertainment venue for mature audiences. Artists interested in performing at CPRLive presents should contact CPR for further information and guidelines.
Reggae lovers seeking an upscale experience with the sophisticated in mind should mark their calendars and join CPR on Friday, March 16th for the launch of CPRLive Presents and see why you will want to make a habit of turning out the second Friday of each and every month for
CPRLive Presents.
